This site aims to introduce Irish users — and teachers in particular — to Moodle.
What is Moodle?
- Moodle is open-source e-learning software, rich with excellent features and functions for online learning.
- Moodle is a popular choice for schools and organisations that want to offer courses or training via the internet.
- Moodle is also known as a Learning Management System (LMS), or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
- Moodle’s main advantage is that it is free (and arguably as good as, if not better than, costly competitors such as Blackboard).
- Moodle’s main disadvantage is that you may need to spend some time learning its features and functions before you can use it effectively
